There's no faster or better way to get the “must-know” information you need than to attend this cutting-edge workshop designed for busy agency professionals like you!  So, we’ve teamed up with representatives from the U.S. Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division who will provide an overview of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The presenters will explain what agencies need to do to stay in compliance, offer options to help agencies stay in compliance and discuss hot topics and common areas of non-compliance. 

The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) establishes minimum wage, overtime pay, recordkeeping, and child labor standards affecting full-time and part-time workers in the private sector and in federal, state and local governments.  

There will be resources on-hand for you to take back to your agency and share with staff, such as Fact Sheet #53 – The Health Care Industry and Hours Worked, Fact Sheet #54 – The Health Care Industry and Calculating Overtime Pay, and more!

Instructors: 

Guillermo Sapia joined the Wage & Hour Division in 1988 as an Investigator after graduating from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Minor in International Business. In 2009, he was promoted to Senior Investigator Advisor for the Midwest Region to oversee and enforce all Government Contracts funded thru the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009. For the past year, he has been working as a Community Outreach & Resource Planning Specialist and helps coordinate education and enforcement initiatives for the Midwest Region to provide compliance assistance and to raise awareness regarding the federal wage and hour laws and protection. 

Steven Paciorek has been an Investigator with the U.S. Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division since September 2009. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management from The Ohio State University. He is based in Columbus, OH and has conducted numerous investigations under the laws enforced by the Wage and Hour Division including The Fair Labor Standards Act, Family Medical Leave Act, Service Contract Act, and others. 

Contact Hours: Attendance for the entire program is required to earn Contact Hours.  A copy of the completed Continuing Education Certificate must also be submitted. This program will provide contact hours to RNs, LPNs. All other attendees will receive a Certificate of Attendance.  

Ohio Council for Home Care and Hospice is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Ohio Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.  (OBN-001-91)  (OH -157, 4/1/2019)

Cancellation: If you cancel your registration prior to five business days before the workshop, you will receive a refund less 25% for administrative costs. All cancellations must be made in writing. No refunds for cancellations or exchanges within four business day from the date of the workshop. Substitutions in keeping with the registration policy (instruction #1) are permitted at any time. If due to unforeseen circumstances OCHCH must cancel this event, registrants will receive a full refund.
