Community based health care providers are on the front lines fighting the pandemic, yet don’t have the basic supplies needed to prevent contracting or transmitting this deadly disease.
Columbus, Ohio— March 18, 2020 —
To keep home care and hospice nurses, physicians, and workers safe from Covid-19 (the Coronavirus), and to slow transmission, there is a desperate need for PPE (Personal Protection Equipment).
PPE includes:
- Facemasks (N-95 respirators/surgical masks)
- Latex Gloves
- Sanitizer wipes and hand sanitizer
- Face Shields or goggles
- Aprons
The PPE Problem
There are an estimated 110,000 people receiving home and community based services around the State of Ohio. Among these are the most susceptible to the Covid-19 (coronavirus), and deserve the care of the medical staff that they rely on in a safe manner. PPE slows the transmission of the corona virus either between patient and medical staff, or medical staff and patient. PPE supplies are extremely low and dwindling at an expedited rate every day.
Product Availability
We are reaching out to the greater Ohio Community and asking for donations of PPE supplies as listed above. Industries that have a surplus of these or similar items (dentists, restaurants, veterinarians, esthetician, etc.) are encouraged to make their supplies available to the home care and hospice industries. Large retailers and supply vendors are encouraged to prioritize home care and hospice agencies for purchase of PPE supplies.
The Ohio Council for Home Care and Hospice (OCHCH), representing the home care and hospice industries in Ohio, will act as the clearing house for the donation of supplies, and makes sure that the agencies most in need will have access to these vital supplies.
If you or your business would like to donate or prioritize home care and hospice agencies for PPE supply purchase, please contact the Ohio Council for Home Care and Hospice at 614-885-0434 x 205 or ochch@ochch.org. Donations can also be dropped off at the OCHCH office at 1105 Schrock Rd Suite 120, Columbus, Ohio 43229, for distribution to our agencies.
